Question:
Let’s hope that you are aware of the fact that Australia is destined
to be a combination of Mining Pit and international holiday
destination in the new world order = globalisation effort.
Apart from a few mining jobs Australia is supposed to make
her income from tourism.
Answer:
Unfortunately hospitality industry = casual or part time work
with the lowest pay rates and no security.
Support globalisation and you support Australians to become
a land of waiters and servants living off tips totally dependent
on the rich tourists who are working in the secure and well paid
jobs in the manufacturing industry which has re-located to other
countries.
Australia will be the ONLY and SUBSTANTIAL loser when it
comes to globalisation.
Australia can tell the global companies to get stuffed. The country has
sufficient expertise to produce food and technical materials to cater to
its own citizenry's needs. Why we should be involved with globalization
beats me. There appears to be a need by the political leaders to make
australians serfs and we vote them in. Victoria almost succeeded in
voting in a leader who is determined to treat the citizenry like
mushrooms.
Maybe because without it we wouldn't have the choice to chose between a Toyota
car and a Ford car. Possibly because if we didn't we wouldn't be able to have
Microsoft Windows and all the other groovy programs you use everyday. Maybe
because it's a two way street allowing us to export our goods overseas.
What about self sufficiency you cry? It's a dead dog. Look what happened to
Russia and North Korea. They shut themselves off from the rest of the world
and tried to produce everything themselves. In those countries, the only brand
of car you could buy is the government brand since they shut themselves off
from the rest of the world. Maybe you'd like to live like that, but the normal
consumer here wouldn't put up with such crap.
The whole point of trade is so that we can produce what were good at and
import what were not good at. Australia (nor any other country in the world)
has the resources or expertise to produce everything its populace wants
locally. Why? Well can you imagine a locally produced cola? Yes, we have AC
cola, but more often than not, people still want the real thing. i.e. Coca
Cola. If you took away Coke and forced everyone to take AC instead just
because it's Aussie made and you don't like globalisation, you'd have legions
of upset Coke drinkers down your throat.
