Mining Engineering Jobs, LOST MY JOB, HELP

Question:
I take it that your husband is a mining engineer. Those jobs are very unstable. A cousin of mine married a mining engineer. They ware always moving, and he was always changing jobs. They finally decided that enough was enough. And they ended up making a life for themselves in rural Nova Scotia. They don't have a lot of money, but they are happy.

Answer:
The government is always hiring somewhere. Check at a job site or web site for govt. jobs. Apply now, and someone will call you eventually. It's not a quick fix, but they hire handicapped and they have good benefits available. The sooner you apply the sooner something will open up. I did this, and when I was at my wits end, laying on my bed too depressed to get dressed, fighting with my wife who was in another room. The phone rang. It was the govt. job, and an airline ticket was waiting at the airport check in counter for me to fly to my training assignment. Also start networking. Every time you open your mouth to someone, let them know you are looking for a good job. If you get stuck on an elevator with someone, let them know your looking for a job before you pry the door open. Keep trying. Most employers and business owners are hustling early in the AM and their real day is done by lunch. That means you have to get out there and get started looking EARLY. You can do it.

No my husband is not a mining engineer. He's worked in coal mines, power plants and now a car parts factory. But sometimes I think I could be happy living in rural Kalamazoo and not worrying about $$$$. Just the basics and lots of time together... I am a very simplistic gal (translated = a cheap date, as my hubby would say...lol)
